Radiation-free REMS bone density scanning — ultrasound instead of X-rays, measuring bone quality as well as bone density.
REMS — Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry — is an advanced, radiation-free bone density assessment that uses ultrasound rather than X-rays. Unlike traditional DEXA scans, REMS delivers valuable insight into bone health with no radiation exposure.

How REMS works
REMS — Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry — is an advanced, radiation-free bone density assessment that uses ultrasound rather than X‑rays. Unlike traditional DEXA scans, REMS delivers valuable insight into bone health with no radiation exposure.
You may see this called a bone density test, a bone density scan, an ultrasound bone scan or a bone health assessment — and when it is used to look for low bone mass, osteoporosis screening or osteopenia screening. They all describe the same EchoLight REMS measurement.
REMS produces a fracture-risk estimate from a single quick, comfortable, non-invasive scan.
Beyond density alone, REMS evaluates bone quality — a fuller picture of your bone health to discuss with your physician.
EchoLight REMS technology produces your readings while you are there, so you can act on them sooner.
The Fragility Score reflects bone quality — structural information a density reading on its own does not capture — alongside your BMD and T‑score.
Knowing your numbers is the first half. Doing something about them is the second.
A side-by-side look at what sets REMS apart.
| Feature | REMS | DEXA |
|---|---|---|
| Radiation exposure | None — uses ultrasound | Yes — uses X‑rays |
| What it measures | Bone quality + quantity | Bone quantity (density) |
| Basis for fracture-risk assessment | Density plus a bone-quality measure | Density (T‑score) |
| Speed & comfort | Fast, non-invasive | Standard imaging visit |
| Results review | Reviewed on-site by physician | Typically follow-up report |
The next question
That is what OsteoStrong is for. It is not a gym and not a workout — it is a weekly, coach‑guided session built around osteogenic loading: brief, controlled force applied through the skeleton on patented equipment, at levels the body reads as a signal to build.
Members come once a week, for about fifteen minutes, one‑to‑one with a coach.
Learn how OsteoStrong helps improve bone strength and densityA recent randomized controlled trial published in Archives of Osteoporosis provides encouraging evidence that a brief, once‑weekly OsteoStrong session can produce measurable changes in bone strength.
Osteogenic loading
20 min once a week
Dynamic multicomponent exercise
120 min twice a week, 60 minutes each
The findings add to evidence that the type, intensity and mechanical stimulus of exercise may matter — not simply the amount of time spent exercising.

Read the study on PubMedThat 2.9% came from one brief session a week — the same session we would start you on.
